Planning on, over the course of the next year or so, doing a bit of an overhaul to my truck. As it sits now, its a 93 reg cab long box, 3.0 with 260 000km, 5 speed, 4x4 with an open 7.5 w/ 3.73's, and an open D35 in front. It is black in colour, with grey fender flares, bumper, and around the headlight, and sort of a stripey finish flag pattern on the side.

What I want to do is lift it a little bit, not too much just because I cannot afford the time or money. I was thinking getting the 2" lift coils for the front from the online store and putting them in to level it out, since I need to do some front end work before any of this can really take place anyway. I also want to black out the truck almost completely, by painting the grille and headlight accents flat black, the fender flares flat black, the front bumper flat black with the pro comp light bar welded on, and some d-hooks. Then put a couple lights on the bumper of course, and round it all out with flat black rims.

As for tires, this is where I need help deciding. It has 235/75/15 on it now, on the stock deerhoof 15x7 rim. I want to go bigger, but don't know what size. I was originally thinking 31's, but I think those on the stock rim would cause the center to wear out really quick. Meaning I would need to also get new rims. The guy at the tire store suggested getting just 30 inch tires, because they would go on no problem. However, thats barely a bigger tire than what i have, and I was wanting bigger. Another option would be 33x9.5, but I think I would need a lot more lift and some fender trimming, which I don't have the financial resources to do.

Now that you have all read my essay, here is my question:

Is there a rim I can grab from a jy that will have the proper bolt pattern and backspacing that I can paint black, and mount the 31's on? What years and vehicles did it come on? Or does anyone know of another alternative for me, to get me either cheap rims or something like that? And my plan won't cause any problems with the axles, engine and tranny I have will it? I think it won't, but I would rather find out now than when something breaks.

I am a university student, so money is fairly tight. That is why I plan on doing it a little bit at a time over the next year or so (who knows, I may win the lottery. I don't buy tickets, but my chances are still just as good as everyone who does :icon_rofl:) And also, please keep in mind that I am in Canada, where everything costs more for no real reason, and there is not as big of a jy, store selection.

I don't mean to put anyone on the spot, but I know Nathan lives here in the city same as me, and I would really appreciate you input as far as good sources for parts, and also because I absolutely love what you've done with your truck.

So thank you all for struggling through that, any comments/opinions/ideas?

Save up for a donor truck for your 8.8 and 4.0. Screw the lift and Sawzall it out nicely and grab some good tires.

your stock hoof print rims will hold the 31's just fine. my 97 came from the factory with 31's and the hoofprint rims. check my sig thread for pics. you might need to put some block lift on the rear axle, I think mine came from the factory with a 2" lift. but mine has the 4.0 and 8.8.
