try a different relay... might have gone bad. my b2 did this.. had some water in it an it would just click.. ended up taking it apart an fixed.

Do you have DRS?

DRS is a terrible disease with symptomns similar to those you describe.

It's full name is "Dangling Relay Syndrome"

ecause of where and how the relays are mounted in an EFI Gen1 ('85-88)
any diagnostic proceedure involves disconnecting the relay.

but considering the unforgiveably cheap-ass way ford mounted them
people tend to just pull them off the bracket and let them dangle on their wiring...

Because of their physical position if the vehicle is rined on drip water from
the edge of the hood falls into the relay socket and then inside the UNSEALED relay.

Having the relays properly mounted on their little spring steel bracket to
the inner fender in an upright and proud orientation prevents this problem.

this may not be your problem, but I frankly would bet a single sneaky
fart that it isn't.

In any event check for this FIRST before proceeding.

BTW, replace your inertia switch lest you inadvertantly discover another deadly
affliction, FISBDS, Fuel Inertia Switch Barbecued Driver Syndrome.

The damned switch is there for a reason.

ok the problem is fixed:yahoo: the connector that the relay plugs into, an internal clip inside the connector was broke that held the orange/light blue wire terminal (fuel pump power) inside the connector. everytime i would plug the relay in it would just slide that wire back and not make contact even though the wire never fell out. i have been working on this problem on and off for about 4 months. id like to thank all the people on here that helped me.
