I went to the exhaust shop today to price a flow master 40 si/do and he told me I couldn't do that because they don't have two inch In an out that thr pipe has to be. 2inch because 2.5 wouldn't bend around everything so they told me to go with a flo pro 2in and 2out and they priced me at 335....please tell me this is wrong and I can get cheaper off line somewhere I have an 05 fx4 super cab reg bed
 
go to a dif shop that has the 2.5 die to bend the pipe or have them expand 2 1/4 to fit over the 2.5 in and 2.5 to 2 1/4 out to 2.5 or 3 inch tips. the fact of the matter is they dont want to do it and want to run something else cuz they get them bulk ordered and can charge you more. id go to autozoo or someplace online order the flowmaster of your choice and take it to a dif shop that will bend the 2.5 for you. you have plenty of room for 2.5, i have had it on my trk in the past. since its 4wd, you really have room considering your axle is that much lower.
on a side note, i had my hi flow converter, super 44 si/do and 3 inch tips installed w/ 2.5 in pipe at one point in time for 170, i bought the super44 at autozoo for 85.95. do the math.
 
and you didnt have to mess with your spare tire cuz thats where he is saying its to tight for 2.5
 
That's absurd. I had an exhaust shop quote me $275 for a single in/dual out flowmaster 40 on my F-150, and offered to use flowsound (flowmaster knockoff) for $200.

I ended up going with the flowsound single in/single out for a grand total of $75.

There's absolutely no reason not to be able to do 2.5" pipe, and there's no reason not to be able to adapt a 2.5" muffler to 2" pipe if necessary. They were feeding you a line of BS and hoping you didn't have an awesome resource like TRS to save you from getting ripped off.

Go somewhere else, and never go to this place again.
 
thats what i was thinking because being here in south dakota alot of places try to do this my friend has a chevy k2500 and he already had 2 pipes off the motor and they still charged him 250 for straight pipes from the 2 pipes already at the same size
 
yeah that shop likes to skrew you over id go somewhere else, as for my spare tire i had it run around the tire rack. my tire rack center bolt broke and i put my spare in the bed on a lock and chain cuz a friend of mines tire rack mount bolt broke and almost totalled a car w/ a tire that flew out...so i took a precaution then later had the mount cut out so i could work on brake lines easier. id def go somewhere else.
 
well every shop around here has quoted me over 200 even for just straight pipe which im not gettin but yeah i wanted to get it done b4 i go on a 2k trip for the gas milage but so far thats not happening enless anyone knows a good shop around Rapid city, SD that wont rip me off
 
alright i know this is a long shot but i was wondering if anyone has a 2005 FX4 with 2.5inch duals i was wondering if you could give me the angles for the bends because i have a buddy who will bend it for me at his school but i have to have the pipe bends wrote on the pipe and everything
 
Years ago i had a shop weld up the flow and duals on my 93 ranger with 3.5" tips for $150.Now when i had my 01 3.0 4wd ranger, i took it to the same shop and they welded up a flowmaster 40 series and 2.5 inch exhaust with a 3.5" tip for around 90-100 bucks, but that was a few years back.

yeah i wish all the shops around here and i mean ALL of them want atleast 250 or over and they tell me that 2.5 cant be done a ranger
