I'm ditching the 302 that I have in my ranger and going back to a 2.3 my question is would everything work out of a 93 - 94 ( hooking it back up and go) like the wiring harnesses and comouter. Wanting to buy a whole donor truck and my truck is a 95

If you took everything yes but it would probably be a pain... '95 was the first year for OBD II but some of the early ones didn't have it, if you have OBD II you're better off getting a '95-01 (yes, including the '98-01 2.5L, same difference as far as the engine and wiring are concerned)

Thanks for the info So a 98-01 2.5 would plug in and go

Should be, might be minor differences but not completely different wiring like a '94 or older

Ok so another question I have found a 4.0 from the same year truck as mine is there any wire splicing involved in this swap??

As long as you left your dash harness intact it should be plug and play.

Ok I have got my donor truck it's a 96 with a 5 speed.. I'm going to be taking the motor and trans out and putting it in my truck but where my truck is a auto is there anything I need to know before I start tearing everything out I know I'll need the pedal assembly my concern is leaning more toward wiring. If anyone has any links to some threads I can read up on that be good to

'95-96 should be dang near identical and auto to manual shouldn't be too hard, the only wires specific to those are going to the transmission connector on an auto and to the clutch pedal switch on a manual. I don't think there is much body module or anything involved in either... from what I hear getting the dash out is a pain on the '95+ to deal with the pedal bracket but that "should" be the hard part...

Ok bear with me i dunno if im wording this right and I'm not at the trucks to look lol. But as far as the engine harness goes I'll be using the 5 speeds harness and computer but on my 95 ( which everything is going to) would I need to change the harness out were it plugs into that 42 pin connector that runs into the truck ( I think that's the one I can't rember)

I'm not certain, but I imagine there is something in that or in the dash harness that goes from the clutch switch to somewhere that involves the starter interlock.

So...what are you doing with the v8 motor and trans from your truck? ?

Not sure yet. It's sat for so long I honestly don't know if it's seized up or not lol.. I may keep it and rebuild it and put it in something or sell it and all my swap stuff

Ok...I may be looking for 302 swap stuff.....complete donor cars are hard to come across anymore.
