Hi All,
I just bought my first Ranger and I have a question. My check engine light came on and 2 codes came up. 1st was a bad CPS (or bad CPS connection) 2nd was EGR had restricted flow. The truck purrs like an old Tom Cat with only 115,000 miles and I am assuming with a faulty CPS it shouldn't be running at all. The only odd thing about the way it runs is that when I start it (hot or cold) the RPM's jump to 1500 and VERY slowly drop to a nice 700-800 idle. Sometimes it will fluctuate a little as it is slowly dropping. When I pop the hood and have someone rev the throttle I can hear a very noticable and loud sucking noise, just like a carbureted engine when you remove the air cleaner, coming from the back of the engine. Could all this trouble be from a vacuum line leak or a leak from the intake? Any suggestions would be appreciated, cuz I am stumped.
1995 Ranger XLT standard cab 4x4, 4.0 Auto. Bone stock, except for the dents.
