I have an 02 4.0 ranger and recently my engine light came on. It was a PO 402 and I replaced the EGR pressure sensor ( problem solved ) now my airbag light comes on and stays on. When I shut the truck off and restart it it stays off. This happens off and on. I've checked the fuses and they are all good. I've also noticed that my passanger side airbag will not turn off now when you incert the key and turn the switch. Any advice?

Forgot to add, the light does work when you put the key in the ignition. You just can't turn the pass. airbag off. And so it's clear just in case, the light that comes on and off at random is the light on the instrument panel! The little guy with the belt and airbag!

On your gauge cluster, what the pattern being flashed from that air-bag light? You know...little guy with the seat belt? It'll flash a certain pattern for a number of times, then it'll stay lit steady. We need to know the pattern. The pattern will determine the fault in the system.

Link posted above is for a 2-7 problem. Mean....flash flash pause flash flash flash flash flash flash flash pause, repete.

It's not on right now,but when it comes back I will post the findings.

If the Passenger Deactivation switch doesn't illuminate, THAT could be the problem.

The system needs to see continuity though that lamp.

I checked the bulb and it works. Just seems as if the switch is not working.

Unpluge the sensor on the back of the seat and clean it with some mass air flow cleaner or rubbing alcohol, but first discontect the battery. the pluge them back in and hook up the battery again.

Ok the code it was flashing was 4-7-4-7 over and over till the light stays on.

4-7 has to do with the driverside or passenger side seat pretensioner connectors.... get under the seats and unplug the wire. Clean the contact points, then dab on some dialetric grease. Should solve the problem.

Ok I will do that and get back to you all soon.
