I offered to help a relative of a friend, who's 1994 Ranger 3.0 is not running someone before me replaced the head gaskets and never finished putting everything back together. Right now I'm having a vacuum system nightmare. I never have had a decent understanding of vacuum systems, and being as how I was not the one who disconnected everything, I'm at one heck of a loss. I've looked up several vacuum diagrams, none of which have helped to fully piece all of this back this back together. I could really use pictures, from the same Era 3.0v6 (like 93-97), that show all of the vacuum routing first hand, to and from all of the connecting components. Have the Chilton's manual, and I've tried Google to no end, and have found very little that I can actually use. If anyone could please help me, it would be so greatly appreciated.

Sorry Joe, I don't have the diagrams you are looking for and my resource material (on-line manual) has recently been shut down...

This I can tell you...the vacuum system on the 3.0 is not needed to run the engine...and I think there are only one or two vacuum ports on the engine...one is used for PCV (If I remember correctly) and is somewhere on the top intake manifold and the other(s) are on the air intake system where they are used for things like the blend door, brake booster, purge canister for the fuel tank, and maybe EGR if so equipped.

What are the symptoms...how do you determine this is a vacuum issue? It could easily be that the head gaskets are leaking or some component using vacuum is not connected properly...

In that case...you can try plugging all accessories and work on them one at a time...if the engine is running rough or stalling and it is OK as you add the accessories back then you can do a process of elimination...

Other than that...I'm sure someone on here has pics of the vacuum system...I had the 92 3.0 but didn't take any pics since I wasn't using the engine myself...
