need oppinions

ok so my gpa was driving my truck from inspection and heard a pop and the clutch pedal wasnt working and we had to tow it.....does this mean my clutch cable just went out or my clutch all together went out?? help me out and give me some oppinion of what you think it is and what it will cost to fix please..thanks guys

Ok, you don't have a clutch cable. You have a hydraulic clutch. I would start by poking my head up under the dash and making sure that the master cylinder's rod is still attached to the pedal arm. Then I'd make sure the cylinder is still attached to the fire wall, and then if all that is ok I'd look under the truck and make sure the line didn't blow apart.

my bet is the rod bushing died, happened to me once, I makeshifted it for a while with electrical tape then went to the dealer and bought the bushing for $5, super easy fix

I agree- I would have been tempted to say something, but these guys have good suggestions for starting points.

"Pop" could have been anything, including your grandpa's knee when he tried to clutch!

I went a little farther than that. There's only about 4 parts in the system and only 3 of them can cause what the OP described. I basically told him exactly what he is looking for in order of likelihood.

that pritty much is the answer, my dad had that problem and he thought he had shattered his clutch but it dident seem that way, he got under the dash and the linkage between the clutch pedle and the master cylender was disconected, i just put a hitch pin in place of the bushing and havent had a problem sense.
