Need new tranny for 97 Supercab 2.3L

My 5-speed Mazda tranny in my 97 Ranger 2.3L is shot. I'll probably look for another M50D-R1 but are there any other good trannies out there that would be a more or lest direct replacement? Just to broaden my range of options more than anything.

just go with the m5 it's a good trans. as far as I know your only othe option is the auto, which I believe is the 4r44e? idk of any other "direct bolt on" transmissions. plus if you do switch to an auto you'll need a computer from an automatic truck
