Need new entire frame for 2001 Ford Ranger extended or doublecab XLT v8 swapped What are my options?

FWIW if you think registering a truck with a swapped frame is going to be difficult, i can only imagine registering a custom frame will be even worse.

Thanks for your reply
Its not that they could not fix it and that they would not fix it's a liability issue.
At some point i guess you have say it's not safe.

Wow 16 feet or was that inchs. I don't think id feel safe driving something like that. But i am no expert

Agreed and i don't think i can afford it anyway. Id have to save and save it would take too long for me.
unless it could be done for cheap but i don't think so.

no. no no.

i was under the impression this truck was already titled as a v8 swap in California.

you just go to a u pull yard.. strip off a truck ..get a frame for 2 to 300 and call it a day.

no need to get paperwork involved for a perfectly good frame.

The truck is BAR certified and is registered with the v8

well then.... swap the frame. its a component replacement. if you had a bent control arm are you going to total the truck?

i broke alot of ttb beams .

I got a response from a frame or chassis builder and it would be 13,608$ and up to get a custom chassis made witch is to much for me but maybe not for someone else. That is a quote from AME,
I would be willing pay 2-3000 for a frame witch just isn't enough for something custom i think. Idk i am still looking into the possibility of it. Cause it would be cool but maybe would be alot of problems.

Still far less money to just buy another frame for 300-995$

Yeah.. fix it with zipped lips. Don't justify & enable the states insane level of bureaucracy by playing into it.

I would do as Bobby said. Fix it and don't worry about paperwork.

I will consider it, but got to think about consequences if caught registering a vehicle improperly or illegally. CA isn't gonna be slack on consequences.
I am not doing the swap a shop is doing it for me...I am not a mechanic...So i am at a severe disadvantage

Not to stir the pot here but I’m thinking it might be relevant- what’s going on with the rear suspension on that truck? I see what looks like one coil over bolted to the bed of the truck on the drivers side. Is that correct? is it the same on the other side? I’ve tried to watch the video a few times but it gives me vertigo.

there are a few hydroformers.

i was planning to do 2x5 rails and ladder sections. mild 10 gauge was 900 for rails. and 40 per foot for ladder sections last i checked in 17 or 18.

for a 2wd i would use 2x4 which is cheaper.

find a competent local welder and likely 1500 labor i suspect.

no way to justify that out there. your shit dont rot. people dont realize how good they have it .

why it it improper if the frame is replaced with an identical unit. that is patently absurd to even fathom in my tiny little mind.

I think they're nuts enough out there that the state wants the Vin on the frame to be verfied..

Dude just buy a frame, swap it, and dont worry about it.

The only VIN they are going to check if something happens is the cab.

I drove a 78 F350 titled as a 79 F150 for years. It had a F150 door and that was the only place with a VIN :)
