I have a 92 2.3l ranger. When I got it the head gasket was blown. I replace the head gasket and the valve stem seals. before I replaced the valve stem seals it was blowing white/grayish smoke out the exhaust and massive oil out of the vent tube that leads from the valve cover to the TB. Replaced the seals, oil changed and the smoking stopped, oil from the vent stopped, but had slight idle issues ran the engine for about 25 mins and the smoking is back when you shut the engine down and I am getting milky oil into the throttle body via the tube that runs from the valve cover to the TB and milky oil on the dipstick.

I don't know what else could be wrong any ideas?

sounds to me that you might have a cracked head. the smoke out the exhuast is coolant burning. the milky oil is from coolant mixing with the oil.

did you have the cylinder head pressure checked? and check it for warp?

you need a PCV valve thats for sure, but i can't say that will cause milky oil

checked it for warp and it was fine.

i had this same problem it is blow by not the head you have bad rings on ur pistons and oil is passing from the pan to ur combustion chamber and igniting with the oil causing ur smoke out the tailpipe and the oil is getting sucked up through the intake valve and is mixing with the fuel vapor causing the crap in ur throttle body and your vent tube i hate to be the bearer of bad news but thats the problem im almost 95% sure sounds like a lower ned rebuild is in ur future hope this helps you figure it out

damn was so hoping it wasn't that bad

damn was so hoping it wasn't that bad

try a $2 PCV valve, if its not sealing properly it will suck a ton of oil inside the intake. if you're getting milky oil its from water getting into it and not fuel vapor.

well you don't know if the cylinder head was cracked. thats about all it can be besides a cracked block or the headgasket didn't seat properly

Yeah I guess I am gonna have to pull it back off and get it pressure checked. Thanks for all your help. Will keep you posted on what I find

Brutus I am calling for your help once again. I finally found my dang PCV valve, that thing was a PAIN to find. Ok now here is the issue one end of the hose it connected to the crackcase but the other was just hanging loose. where was it supposed to be connected

the bottom of the intake manifold. this would be a very large vacuum leak if unhooked.

Well good news guys the beast lives again. Got the PCV valve replaced and all hoses reconnected to their proper positions and the beast breaths again. No oil in the throttle body, no oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil. Now to get it registered and back on the road.

Then it is on to more customization.
