I have a 1993 v6 4.0 ranger. under the driver side front fender there are a couple clips that have wires going into them. there is a red wire that came loose on the clip and my truck died. as I was putting the wore back in the clip I touched it to another wire. my fuel pump engaged and turned of. now my fuel pump won't come on at all and my check engine light doesn't come on when I turn it to on position. all the fuses are good. I have power to the eec fuses and everything. I tried everything. it will start but will only run for a couple seconds but dies do to lack of fuel.

Do you have a picture of the area?

Whenever you turn your key to the "On" position or touch an ignition wire, the fuel pump is priming before you engage & crank the motor.

"Red" usually a hot wire, and it could possibly be one of the wires that is coming from the fender solenoid to the starter. ????

OH! I think I know which one you may be talking about...are you actually disconnecting that red wire? That cylindrical connection (your "clip") & wires need to be connected for your car to run at all. It's a constant power. Why are you grounding it off?

Yeah that's the clip I'm talking about. My left tire hit that and pulled only the red wire out. And in the process of putting it back in I touched it to another wire. Which turned on my fuel pump. And the thuhh is. It's not the clip that runs the wires to the fuel pump. It's the one that comes out of the fuse box and hangs below. The left front fender
