i got a 85 ranger with a 2.8 with a fm145 currently and a manual 1350 tcase. my problem is that i think this trans is gona be crappn out soon and i'm wanting to look at my opitions for a replacement. question is what is the full assembled length of a m5od? there is a guy in my area selling a toyo kogyo 5 speed and tcase for 50$ but i dont know the conditon of it yet. would putting this tk5 in require a lengthing of the d-shaft since it is shorter? any input would be greatly appreciated. thanx in advance

anyone? i thought someone would know this and could help me out. o well, trial and error it is then.

m50d is 28.687" long in 4wd form, lots of good trans info in the tech section

The TK5 is a direct swap, but pretty equivalent as far as reliability. The best swap would be the Mazda, but that requires longer front/shorter rear driveshaft, moving teh trans crossmember, and I believe swapping the slave cylinder around. Discussion of that swap should be in the forums.
