i have a 91 with a 2.3L 5speed, i was playing around with my code scanner and seeing what kind of difference my new intake made and i figured why not look to see if I had any trouble codes and it came up with these
18-loss of ignition diagnostic monitor signal to control module/ spark output grounded
88-ignition fault loss of dual plug input control
now i have had number 18 many times and i have tried to get rid of it but no luck! i replaced the ignition control module with one from a newer ranger from the junk yard and it worked great and my truck ran a lot better but after a month or 2 my tach has been messing up and i know my tach goes through the ignition control module, but other then that my truck runs fine! i also have changed all plugs and wires and one coil pack. so if u guys have any suggestions pleases let me know! thanks! and if u need more info let me know!
