need help with my msd and Mallory unilite connections

Hey I have a 1985 ford ranger 2.8l and I need to figure out the correct way to hook it up my msd box is a digital 6a pn601 and I have a Mallory unilite distributer with a msd blaster coil 2 can't get it to start. And I am not getting power to the coil when the battery leads from the msd box r hooked up but when they are unhooked I get power to the coil

I've never heard of this configuration and there may be others that have it...a search on Google produced a PDF manual that might help you though...

I thought the unilite was made to work without a separate ignition box? Pretty sure all you need is a coil, no 6a box.

What is the part number of the distributor?
