im doin the 8.8 swop in to my 88 ranger, it has a 6" susp...lift, i want to take out the add-aleaf so i get more flex so i picked up the springs that were on the 8.8, they are out of a 92 explorer and its a 4 pack. what set up should i do? use the main explorer spring with 3 out of my ranger pack or what? i want it to be soft but levale, dont want it to sag, so if you have done this i would like to here how you set it up, or if you know what i should do it would help me alot. THANKS:stirthepot:

A buddy of mine took the explorer pack apart, as well as the ranger pack and torched the eyes off the main leaf of the ranger pack. Then he put it under the main leaf in the explorer pack and put it back together. That with the Belltech shackles has him sitting slightly higher than the 6" SJ soft-rides in front.... Its a 94 Ex-cab 4.0.

I'll be doing the same.

no just was goin to bed and dident want to think about what i should do all night, well i do any ways, thinkin about the swop, so sunk all ill use is the two main leafs and thats it? or put acouple under those too. thanks for getting back, just excited that i finely have every, sorry if it was rude or what have you...mike

No, use the whole Explorer pack, just put the Ranger top leaf in right under the Explorer top leaf. If you're sitting too high or too low, you can take out or add extra leafs that are left over, but that should be pretty good.

thank you for the much needed info, we got to go up to evans this summer, when we get our trucks done, it would be cool to see two angers rolling around up there.

Yeah somewhere for sure. I plan on making quite a few wheeling/camping trips this summer, so that my buddy (mentioned above) finally bought a real truck, lol.

you need to play around with them till they suit your needs.

i like mixing all the b2 springs in as they tend to not beat up the ride and flex but still hold a load well.

if you run around unloaded a majority of the time you may want to consider using a longer shakle n combination with lowered front hangers and dakota rear shackle hangers. this works really well when you want to shitcan the factory block.

whenever your useing leaf spring you want lots of thin leaves to provide good lift and optimum travel, the explorer leaves are thicker they will give you teh lift but reduce flex if u can, take both leaf packs apart and play around with different leaf combinations until you find something you like!!
