Hey guys! Ive been familiar with this site for a little while now and finally made myself an accout! :headbang: Anyways ive got a question about a coolant leak. I have a 91 ranger 2.3l 4cyl standard cab short bed with a 5-speed. About this coolant leak, ive replaced water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing and a few hoses. Still have the damn leak..:icon_confused: its a steady small drizzle stream. It leaks before I even start it, when im pouring it in and just before the radiator is full it starts leaking. looks like it is coming from just above the waterpump but just below the thermo housing which is where the head and block meet. Could this be a head gasket? its throwing me off because there is no coolant in the oil or anything and you would think if it was a head gasket that the system would have to be pressurized to leak a steady small stream? but please any help or opinions would be greatly apprieciated. let me know if I left anything out. Thanks!!!

A bad head gasket can cause a coolant leak without getting into the oil and also the compression will not always charge the coolant system. Just depends were it is leaking. I am not a fan of the coolant system stop leaks, but in your case you might try it. I would post a picture of the location and you will get a better answer.

I just used barsleakes in my radiator. Flushed it a few days and my heater core is a little plugged. Id run it like 2/3 days and flush it out

Ive never really been a fan of stop leaks myself either but im tempted to try it. I really just want to pin point the leak tho so i can just fix it right instead of just pushing it off further with a "bandaid". I wanted to post a pic but im new to forums and couldnt seem to figure it out. But it appears to be leaking from where head and block meet inbetween the thermostat and waterpump. I can see coolant running along top of the water pump.

No one has had this problem before?? I really want to hear everyones thoughts to help me get this fixed. Its my only car and im having a really tuff time just getting to work not to mention my wife and kid. Probably loose our house if i loose my job because i cant get my stubborn ford back on the road. Sorry guys dont mean to open a book just really been down in the dumps latley. Anyways please someone/anyone help me fix my truck. Tell me if you meed more info or anything, whatever you need to help you help me! Thanks a bunch in advance to anyone that is going to take the few min to help a fellow ford driver fix his truck.

pic would help just put pic on photobucket and post link here

I will try to get a pic but idk if its going to do any good cause i can barley see in there let alone getting a camera in there. But like i said its leaking from ABOVE the waterpump but BELOW the thermo housing. The only thing that is inberween those two is where the head and block meet. Ill try and get a pic of where i think its leaking. If its not the headgasket what else could be leaking in that general area??

im still trying to figure out how to put a pic up here. I can email or text someone the pic if they wanted to see it. really just need to get my truck fixed and figured there would be a bunch of ppl willing to help a fellow ford guy out. this post sure has a lot of views for only a couple posts....

Anyone?!?!?!?!?!?! Pleaseee help meeeee!!!!

Othere than the head gasket and someone might know as I havent had a 2.3 appart for 20 some years. Does one of the timing belt cover fasteners go through the water jacket?

As for the pressure thing. With an appropriately sized hole the coolant above it would give it some pressure. (Poke a hole low in the side of a jug of water to see what I mean.)

As for the picture: If you can send it in an e-mail you can upload to imgur.

Click this link: http://imgur.com/

Then click the button that says computer on the upper right of the page just below where it says "Upload Images".

Find the file on your device/computer.

I know its a long shot and not sure if your water pump has this but could it be coming out the weep hole?

Also is there a freeze plug near where it's leaking that had rusted out our come out some?

UPDATE!!!

Im pretty sure I found the leak!! BUT im stumped on what it is or what to call it. there is this allen head plug just above the thermostat and to the right a little bit. I can see it leaking but what is this?!?!?!?

If it is leaking, carefully tighten up the plug until it stops leaking. It is prolly for a sensor your engine didn't need. :D
