Need help on Radiator Swap

OK, i'm having some custom steering built for my pre-runner and I need some assistance on a radiator issue.

The fabricator said I need to use the 4.0L radiator in place of my stock 2.3L radiator. I have the radiator no problem, just need some help on what radiator hoses to use.

He said he believes people have done this swap before and to check here for some guidance.

Can you let me know what hoses you all have used for doing such a swap??

Main concern is the inlet and outlet of course. (not sure if i will need to switch any of the heater core stuff.. but I can always bail that for now)

just messure the outlets/inlets, and take some messurement an go to the automotive store and see what you can find. what year 2.3 and 4.0 radiator are you using?

You should be able to use the 4.0L lower hose (though the 2.3L one won't be too different) and the 2.3L upper hose.

I've only done this with 2.9Ls, but the stock 2.3L radiator is the same. The wildcard is the geometry around the throttle body; it is widly different between 2.9L and 4.0L.

Use a 1991-94 Exploder 4.0L with automatic transmission and air conditioning. Some 4.0Ls came with the same radiator you have now....

You will probably need a 4.0L fan shroud.
