I am seeing leaking oil (appears to be oil anyway, not red in color) collecting on this part and I am not sure what it is. I think it is part of the drive shaft assembly, but could not be sure. I have uploaded a photo and am hoping someone can help me identify this part.

2002 Ranger XLT Reg Cab 2.3L 4cyl.

Thanks

Looks like a counterweight on the tailshaft of the transmission. They're used as a vibration dampner. That whole tailshaft looks wet to me. I'd say change that seal.

i see red fluid in the pic. so it seams, i marked it with an arrow and looks like the tailshaft seal might be the culprit

Thank you for you assistance. I guess my best course of action is to get it to a Transmission Shop and have them take a look see. I am not inclined to attempt myself. I did try to wobble the drive shaft (?) coming out of the transmission and it has very little play, so that speaks good of the bearing I suppose. Hopefully it is just a seal.
