My truck (87 ranger 4x4)had a 302 from a 74 bronco....i am changing the motor and bought a roller motor with gt40p heads....here are my issues....my old motor had shorty headers that on the drivers side were modified....im assuming to clear the steering shaft but i never noticed to see how close they were....i thought that only the 351 swap would interfere with steering shaft....my real problem is now i need new headers because of the spark plug angles....i plan on getting bbk1515 headers because people have said they will work on gt40ps with 90 degree boots etc....the bbk primarys on the drivers side seem to flare out pretty wide...will they interfere with my steering shaft??...if so can i modify the shaft to make room?

Most likely you will have problems getting those to fit....I do know that the Torque Monster headers will fit, although rather pricey...When I get the funds I plan to get a set of TM's...

You can do a custom steering shaft like I did for more clearence. You can also put the headers that you have on the GT40P heads and see which plugs hit the headers and then take a plug socket and a hammer and clearence the header tube enough to clear the plug and wire. Not all headers can be mod'ed like this but I have done a couple of sets like this with good results. Here is a pic of my mod'ed steering shaft. The part that bolts to the steering gear box is from a Areostar van and the top part was from a 92 Explorer with the last part being my stock 94 Ranger coupler bolted to the steering columin.
