Need help getting to run properly

Ah yes, I know that as the " power valve". I think that the diaphragm can rupture in those, especially if there was a strong backfire. I dont have any true knowledge of those so grain of salt is needed...
It has back fired in the past so ill check that. Do you know the symptoms of a rupture?

Not really. I would pull it and take a look. Perhaps blowing or sucking to make sure the diaphragm is working. The rupture thing is something I read in a magazine 45 years ago, and dont remember details.

I'll definitely take a look. Thanks for your unforgotten knowledge. 🤣

The notification for this went to spam for me, so I am weeks out of date, where did you settle at now? Any luck?

Sorry about the late reply. Haven't dug to much into it since posting on county of holiday and funds. But I did happen to get a vacuum gauge and by the images on anther post it seems like a intake manifold leak cause a rough idle. Has anyone ever done one and what is needed to buy to do such things.

As in there is a leak at the base of the manifold where it mates to the head?

Yes. I did buy the manifold gasket
I haven't done the manifold gasket, as I don't yet have the need to. But I suspect the thermostat housing needs to be removed in order to do this. Someone can verify for you. If that were the case, and this is just what I would do, I would consider doing any cooking system related work needed, even a coolant flush.

I Had everything off down to the manifold this summer. The only reason I didn't go further was because it looked to me like I had to remove the t-stat housing, and I wasn't ready to do all that when I had a coolant flush to do on my ZJ and my Discovery II at the same time. Too much all at once.
