i want to put 5.5'' early bronco coils on my 88 super cab ranger, what do i have to do so they work? just mess with the top coil bucket or? will they lift my truck more than 6'' SK coils. thanks for the help.

5.5" EB coils lifted my b2 the same as my 8" SJ RBV coils did

The bottome of the coils are different as well as the tops of the coils.....just need to modify the mounting points

You really have to figure out the math for all of this to work instead of guessing. Have a read through the jeep coil spring topic that is stickied. Than you can figure out exactly what free length coil you will need to maintain the lift height you want. You will also need to have damn near perfect steering angles for this to work, such as going to the Super lift super runner steering set up (will still need modification to work properly with 6" of lift)

i have a 6'' lift on my truck right now im trying to soften the ride. and get more flex. cant be that hard. iv read through every thing i can find on it, just want to hear from peaple that have done it.

i used the 5.5" EB coils on a SAS set-up not a TTB

Yo,
i believe that Copykat runs 5.5" EB springs with good results. However, his B2 is a bit lighter than your SC Ranger. You might have to shim with some washers to get your full height out of it.

i liked the jeep springs, but running stock buckets i had to make custom lower seats for bow control.

just a pipe nipple into a 2 inch pipe flange, cut the needed angle into the nipple and bolt it on...you may have to get tricky with the bolt on part or use stud extenders/whatever

thing is, steering. at least the super lift. crossover is better, but the superlift is a bolt on. i was running v8 and winch ect...truck weighs 4200 empty.

you want a 280 or better spring from what i have tried. my best setup netted max travel with uncut beams. you will need bump stops and limit straps or replace alot of axle parts if you like to actually use that gained travel:icon_cheers:

oh yeah.....get airbags for the springs. it really makes it adjustable for the street:headbang:

You can always cut the springs down if there to long and dont forget that once they settle in the front end will go down some. Allow for that little bit once the spring settles.

If it helps, you need coils between 280-325PPI that have a loaded length of 16.5-17" for 6" lift on your Supercab truck.

My 5.5's sit 17" loaded, but on a TTB you'll need a min of 3/4" spacer under the coil or the coil will not sit straight. It'll ride up on the knuckle part of the beam. You'll have to watch out, for the EB coil's don't sit very well in the RBV bucket. And my 5.5" coils are 21.5" free length.

SJ 6" coils will tend to sit at 14.5-15" once settled.
