I have an 03 ford ranger Edge with the 4.0l sohc motor in it. I started it up the other morning to let it warm up, about 15-20 seconds after I started it, I heard a very audible THUD sound and my truck died. I tried to start it again, and it will turn over just fine but will not start. Sputtered a few times, but that was it. I pulled the code P0300, and I'm not sure where to go from here. What should I be looking for? thanks

I can't tell you whats wrong but P0300 is Random multiple misfire detected.

P stands for powertrain
0 stands for generic code
3 stands for Ignition system or engine misfire.
00 stands for specific problem
I thought it was cool how they break down like welding rod or something. What I had good luck with is work google for p0300 and Random multiple misfire detected. With sohc 4.0 i'll bet its out there.

I compression tested the motor today and its dead on my drivers side cylinders so im about 99% sure the timing chain snapped. code p0300 can go f itself. Thanks for the reply though.
