I believe the seats in my truck are not the original seats and may pose a serious danger! I've owned my 2007 since 2017 and have always wondered where this part went:
It was lying on the floor under my drivers seat since I bought the truck and I was never able to find a place for it. I didn't think much of it. I pulled the seats out to install a new audio system and found the part number on it. It's a Seat Position Sensor for the airbag! WTF!! I've been teaching my daughter how to drive in the truck and she pulls the seat way up to reach the pedals! She could have been seriously hurt had something happened and the airbag fully deployed! I've searched every square inch under the seat and there is "no" spot for it. While searching online I did find a photo showing it attached to a bracket.
There is nothing under the seat that looks like this bracket. Even if I had the bracket I don't imagine it would work as the rest of the system isn't there. Does anyone know if this is active with the seat forward or back? It is magnetic so there must be a tab on the slide mechanism that goes between it either in the forward position or in the back position. If I knew which it was, I could either unplug it (open switch) or jump it out (closed switch) until I can get this figured out. I just want it to think the seat is forward so the airbag doesn't fully deploy. I know this isn't something to be messing with but I have to do something for now and it's the best option. I plan to either get the right parts for the system to work "properly" or just find the right seats. I'll also add, all the plugs match up. Nothing has been cut, spliced or otherwise tampered with.
