Foxbody FEAD Fitment?

Who has successfully used the Foxbody alternator mount, water pump, timing cover, etc.. in an '83-'93 truck? if you have, or did, please share what you did to make it fit. What radiator was used and were you able to run an electric fan?
 
use mk7 mounts or comet/eb with spacers to put it as low as possible.

if it is a 4x4 it will require cutting and inverting the oil pan a bit right before the sump.

rework the heater /ac box.

you will want to put the radiator under the core support.

this will allow the universal 25x19 or a durango or jeep v8 radiator and 17 in flex fan or mark fan or taurus fan.

changing water pumps or anything else on the front is a breeze. radiator can stay put.
 
What is comet/eb? I've seen reference to eb but can't figure out what it's being used as shorthand for.

I started out with the crown vic setup which I think is the same depth as FB. Everything was a pain to work on (had to pull the grille to pull the pusher efan to remove the radiator to remove the alternator to remove a valve cover etc) and I ripped it all off and went to the Explorer setup pretty quick.


If I pushed the radiator up into the rad support or used a swap radiator I may have been able to get by with a puller efan... but I wanted A/C and there isn't much room to stuff stuff into the radiator support when there is a A/C condenser there.

this is true. you will have to modify the grille and mounts and latch assembly and often it is easier to use hood pins to have normal ac. these days I am just as likely to run electric ac or extend the lines and mount the condenser under the bed like I used to as a trans cooler.

specifically in this trucks case(85ranger) there is another inch plus of room available going lower and farther back which requires oil pan modifications.

most people won't beat the fawk out of, or cut the firewall to get that 2 inches and mod the oil pan.

i have thought about making a tube type core support that can bolt into this application by doing basic cutting of the original to get it all with a piece to epoxy onto the modified grille. something that works with the engine plate method..

it would not be anything but a loss in regards to building and selling.

but with the advent of send cut go...some base cad work and a 110 welder is something to consider.
 
I used Fox body brackets and pulleys on the 351 in my Ranger because a friend gave them to me. I used the Ford Performance left side bracket for the extra height of the 351. I couldn't come up with a radiator to fit so I hollowed out the core support, figured out where I wanted the inlet and outlet, what size would fit and ordered a Griffin universal radiator. I mounted the radiator inside the hollowed out core support and used a 15" water pump mounted flex fan because there wasn't depth enough for an electric fan. If I sit in traffic at 90 degrees with the a/c running, the temp gauge creeps up a little so I increase the idle speed a little.

I'm in the planning stages and I'm considering my engine build options to obtain my power goal. One path to my goal would require the Foxbody FEAD. Hence this thread.
 
Apparently the T Bird FEAD set up leaves more room for a fan. Of course I read that after I installed my own Fox body stuff.
 
the mn12 and sn95. it is intermediate.

there is a ton of variance. i prefer a 1 in body lift even on a 2wd due to ability to place engine.

3 inch for a 4x4 you are going to use.

street trucks naturally you want no body lift and thus the challenge.

I've considered a 1" body lift coupled with a set of 3" dream beams and 1" drop springs to maintain the 3" drop I currently sit at. Previous owner used 3" drop springs. Sits awesome. But also only has about a 1/2" of suspension travel. Which is not awesome, at all.

The extra inch between the frame and body may not sound like much, but it's actually quite a bit. It could mitigate a number of interferences.

I'm looking to get 350-375 hp for as cheaply as possible. A stone stock 302 HO out of a 5.0 LX Mustang with in expensive set of aluminum heads and a Kenne Bell with just 6psi of boost should hit that target with ease. The Kenne Bell requires the Foxbody FEAD.

I was planning to use the 4.0L engine mounts/flat plates style adapters to facilitate the swap. If they won't deliver the space required I can still switch up the swap method.
 
I've never used the 4.0 mounts but I feel the fox convertible mounts put my engine higher than it otherwise really needs to be.

If I had it to do over I would have used the 4.0 mounts.
 
in my chassis the mk 7 mounts are 1/2 in lower
