Hello! I hate for my first post here to be begging for help... but unfortunately it is.

I have a 2008 XL that I've been working on installing coil spring spacers on all day. No luck with a spring compressor or anything!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make this go a little eaiser?

Thanks so much!
Keith

Hi there!
I'm sorry I can't give advice on the exact install (I've yet to fiddle with the springs on my truck). I can offer this, though: When doing struts on my old T-Bird years back, I had to put the car on stands and load/unload the springs with a jack. This is dangerous because those springs STORE A LOT OF ENERGY. Energy that will TAKE YOUR HEAD OFF if you let it.

To make this process slightly safer, I dropped a thick chain down through the inside of the spring and locked it to the subframe, leaving just enough space for the spring to unload. When the spring was totally safe to pull/install, take the chain out and viola, you're unharmed and the spring is in.
