Yes and no.

The axle will work, but it has to be modified. The Explorer rear springs pass under the axle and the axle sits on top of the springs. The Ranger rear springs sit on top of the axle. Essentially it is upside down. Also the Explorer shock mounts are incorporated into the lower spring plate while the Ranger shock mounts are welded to the axle tubes. IIRC the Explorer spring perches sit farther apart as well. It will not just bolt right in.

Where are you located? Maybe someone on here has an axle near you that they would sell for cheap to free.

thanks ill proply just do that re weld the spring place er thing couldnt i just flip the axel over so the springs monts are on top im in sumner maine by the way

You dont have to have a 7.5. Call back the junkyards and see if they have an axle out of a 1990 or newer 4.0 ranger. Its an 8.8 but its a bolt in swap. Maybe the junkyards only looked up 7.5s.

Okay well be sure to look at the tech library. no you cant just flip the axle over. You have to relocate perches to the top of the axle and make new shock mounts.

thanks ill just flip them rite side up measuer it out and weld it on top and i can use the old shock mounts from the other axel and weld those on too

Awesome:icon_thumby: Also note: im pretty sure the driveshaft will not bolt up. Again check the tech library and use the search function. Be sure to post pics and updates of your project to potentially help other people! Good luck.:icon_thumby:

Actually if you read the Explorer 8.8 swap it says this: "My 1983 Ranger used the small 2-1/2 inch wide u-joint and 2-inch shaft. The Rangers flange had a 2-1/2 inch spacing between bolt holes and the Explorer flange had a 3-inch spacing between bolt holes."
