i have a 1998 ranger 4x4 with the 3.0 and the auto 4r44e just got it the tranny is bad and their is only 25psi oil pressure on a cold engine when it first cranks then you let is warm up and zero, but anyways i want to put a 302 in it with a 5 speed manual 4x4 what transfercase will work with my existing front 4wd, ive never done an engine swap but i guess i gotta start somewhere, i wanna know what i need to do with the wiring? and what year 302 would be best to swap with, and what 5 speed and transfercase i should get? and what about the engine mounts whats gotta change there clearly the stock 3.0 mounts wont work. maybe someone can help me get started....... just what do i need to do first?

Another case of someone doesn't read thru the "stickies" first.

Yup, read through the stickies, Technical library, etc. When you have a more specific question feel free to ask.

im not good with computers im not sure what you guys are talking about it took me an hour lastnight to figure this out, i read through alot and i didnt find anything with a 1998 ranger and keeping the 4wd.

wow that couldnt have been easier like i said im not good with computers and getting around on here isnt very easy for me. thank you soo much you made it soo easy for me i couldnt thank you enough! thats everything i need to get started! im so glad i got a 1998 its gonna make things alot easier for me. im going to try and find a 8.8 rearend. but what about the front should i keep it the 7.5?

First I'd check to make sure what rear end in under the truck. Go up to the top in the tech library into the axle are to check the codes.

There are three threads at the top of the list in the V8 forum labeled "Stickies" If you missed em, you didn't look. Our whole point in bringing them to your attention is, if you do not take the time to do research yourself, then you aren't willing to do what's going to be necessary to do a swap to the point of completetion. It's sort of like "tough love", it's nothing personal.

the rearend is a 7.5. like i said before im not good with computer i dont even know what a thread is... but im looking now trying to figure how everythig is all set up on here ive just been looking aound tryin to figure it out. thanks

Nobody here wants to see you take your ranger apart only to let it sit there because you later couldn't figure what to do in swapping engines.

Seems like you're doing alright so far. :D A thread is basically this message that you created on here with all of the replies. Also, stickys are the threads at the top of the section that persist there. They contain a lot of good information, very good for reading. Keep us posted on your progress.
