My credo
If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
So I walk out my door today and noticed some of the insulation from around my Evaporator box was in a neat pile under the motor of the truck. Squirrels are at it again, looking for nesting material.

I have never seen this on a shelf in any auto part store and am wondering where to get this insulation/tape to replace it? I know it is out there I just am not sure where to look for it. I'm hoping someone here has replaced it and knows where I can get it from.

Wrecking yards have lots of it :)

Auto parts stores have it in rolls, ask for heat shield insulation

I used adhesive backed thermo shield I bought off of amazon when I installed my headers. It made a heck of a difference.

Thanks for the response RonD, I found heat reflective tape but the original has insulation in it. Does the tape work as well as the OEM installed stuff?

You need the stuff with insulation.

The heater box needs to be insulated for its use, in the summer using AC, and winter using the heater

The heat tape would be OK, but not as GOOD as even a thin layer of insulation.

The insulation holds the heater box temp as driver wants it, hot or cold.
The reflective surface is just for engine heat really

Update on the search for insulation:

I have called all my local auto stores and none of them can get it. One did recommend going to a hardware store and getting foam insulation that can handle heat. Is this a viable option to replace it?

That's what I did

A/C and heater box insulation is looking a little old, let's fix that

All insulated. The foil was a little thin so I added some foil tape to it

Thanks for the reply, I will check the hardware stores then.
