Hello:

I am trying to connect a Pioneer Radio to my 1998 Ford Ranger.

I just purchased the Metra 70-1771 harness and it did not come with the color code instructions. The OEM Package has the wire color code instructions printed on it and this came in a generic bubble wrap envelope (Not the OEM package). That is OK. The package is not the issue. The issue is that no instruction sheet was inside of the bubble envelope.

I NEED THIS WIRE COLOR CODE INSTRUCTION SHEET :-(

Does anyone here have the Wire Color Code Instruction Sheet for the Metra 70-1771 Harness.

Can someone email me a photo copy of this instruction sheet please ?

Just Private Message me please, and I can send you my email address.

Thank you guys and gals.

I got the Pioneer DEH-X4700BT and I installed it today.

The colors on the Pioneer pigtail match the colors on the Metra Harness Adapter. Several wires were not used from the Metra harness including 2 Orange Wires and a Black Wire with a White Stripe (not sure what those wires are for).

Running the Bluetooth Microphone Wire worried me a little but turned out to be very easy. I mounted the mic above the Rear View Mirror and clipped it to the Headliner Edge. I ran the wire across the headliner by tucking it under the headliner closest to the windshield. I pulled the A Pillar Cover loose with a simple putty knife, tucked the wire under that and down towards the fuse box. I tie-wrapped it in a few places under the drivers side kick panel and then over to the radio. Very simple and neat.

The radio works GREAT now. I'm amazed how this little $70 receiver has so many features including automatically hooking up to my Pandora App on my phone. With that, I don't need XM Satellite. The USB Flash Drive feature is cool also in that it displays the Artist and Song playing and the Radio shows the Radio Station Call Letters, the name of the artist playing and the name of the song. And of course, the main reason I purchased this for a 1998 Truck that has 350,000 miles on it, was for the hands free Bluetooth calling feature so that I don't get a $200 ticket here in California. I consider this $70 + $4.00 (for Metra harness) to be a great investment for my truck and for my safety (I already had the Radio Adapter Kit in the Ranger from my previous radio so I didn't have to buy that).

The two orange wires are:
ORANGE = ILLUMINATION
ORANGE/WHITE = DIMMER

The BLACK/WHITE one = AMP GROUND

Wires

Found this for my 2010 ranger:
