Need an Axle, don't know where to look...

I have a 98 ranger 2wd w/ the 4.0 and the axle code 95. Does anyone know of any packages of the explorer/ranger that would have the same, or do i have to hunt around? i would need the same gearing as i currently have, i'm not looking to change to a 4.10 and would like to keep the same mileage... and i apologize for the noob question...

Junkyards keep track of stuff like that...makes it easier to sell. Ask one of the local yards...they should have something. Even if not, axle codes are easy to read.

You'll simply need to find another Ranger with a 95 axle code.
It's a fairly common axle ratio but an y axle '93-up with a code 95 axle will work.

An Explorer axle would REQUIRE welding and some minor fabrication to make it fit.

Explorers are "spring under"
Rangers are "spring over"
(this refers to the position of the spring relative to the axle tube)

Explorers also do not have the shock mounts.
their shocks go to the lower spring plate.
