So I just bought this 02 4.0 (72k miles) ranger about a month ago, and when ever I get a new car I do a (tune up) spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, full synthetic oil change. I used all motorcraft parts. Let me add the truck ran good when i bought it I just like to do maintance to prevent issues. but anyways I drove it for about a week with no problem after doing the tune up and was happy cause i was getting 17mpgs. so couple days ago i filled the tank and drove 15 miles to my work and on the way home it started to stutter...misfire... i checked it on the scanner and it only had the p300 fault for random misfire. so since it wasnt narrowing it down to specific cylinder i figured id just thro a set of plug wires at it. I mean for 35 bucks it cant hurt anything. well still no change. Im thinkin bad gas... anybody agree/disagree. thinkin bout syphoning the gas out and putting new gas in and seeing whats up then. any suggestion. thanks
pour some sea foam in the tank, would have to say bad gas. the wifes fx4 gets like that when it get some bad gas. the sea foam normaly takes care of it
