Hello all, Bryan Smith here... We have finished up the 2011 season and it is time to revamp for the ANGER.

Some photos to spark some interest

We ran 7 out of 7 races...out of 43 total competitors, only 3 began and finished every race. I was one of them. Feels damn good to say that.

The 99 Ranger has done well but im ready for more. We need to go Faster and we need make the wheels move more. I like to think in very simple terms. It seems easier. Problem is simple never stays simple...ugh

I want to either source a long travel IFS kit and trailing arms for rear (I don't think the wallet will support it), or make my own. I believe I could do this but I will take any advice anyone will have for me. A couple quick questions

What do you think about a full size 9.75 under the rear

I wanna make super simple trailing arms: piece of tube for the bottoms, 2 sides plates and 1 upper plate. Tabs on top of upper plate. Does anyone have a template?

Up front: tubular uppers extended X"s and a boxed lower extended X"s. Template anyone? haha Have a shop here in town make some longer shafts.

Does anyone know of 930 cv's that will work? ive looked but cant find anything except people who can make the stuff for no less than your first born.

High angle ball joints. Does anyone sell them for the ranger?

On to the powertrain...Dont know why I picked it other than it had the most HP of all the other fords I saw at the Take-A-Part. It was only $220

Navigator 32v. 5.4l...Not sure the hood will shut after it goes in but that will be the least of my problems. I need to figure out which trans I wanna put behind it. The 4r70w is what i'm leaning towards.

I also need to make a wiring harness and get a computer for it. Just wanna clarify an assumption; does the GEM control both the engine and trans. Also been looking into pats. Am I to understand that when I install the new GEM, that my current pats will work with it to let it start or will worse case senario be i have to take it to the dealer and have them program it?

I also understand how big the Mod motor is so i'm prolly gonna build the roll cage around the motor and hang the body panels off that. Been looking at 1 piece hood and fenders and I'm just gonna hillbilly the flare sides.

Ill have more questions later so thanks for any help in advance

so lets see if i follow. you want to build, a v8 5.4 prerunner, with IFS and a 9.75 rear axle? (if you manage it im excited)

Now your gonna run into a few issues. one of which is valving and spring rate for the weight of that massive motor. If its the one im thinking of, they aint light at all. id get a for 9" in the rear. you can run 500hp to it before you break it. you might not then... also your gonna be very front end heavy for jumping, so your gonna have to put the fuel cell, tires, battery... as far back as you can. gonna take alot of work but should be awesome.

if you want serious ranger prerunner questions answered, hop on dezertrangers.com

Im not worried about the valving and springs right now, but I do hear ya. The Ultra 4 car im next to Rosco, #302 KOH 2011 33rd finisher. We worked shocks all year long. Finally get it dialed in all hell broke loose everywhere else.

Im looking at some FOX 2.5 CO's, maybe even the internal bypass. That money has been alloted.

As far as offsetting the weight, I started shifting weight the 4th race in. Got the spare, huge battery, and washer/coolant resevoir in the rear. I just bought a 16 gallon JAZ to put in the back.

Also hoping that the funds are there and ill get the one piece front end cause ill cut all factory sheet metal out of the thing except for the cab.

I like the thoughts though, thanks

You could lose the A arms and toss a dana 44 TTB under the front. You asked for ideas... You never said they had to be any good!:D

You should be proud, that's damn hard to do.

Richard

Edit; Can't help you on any of your questions as I don't have any knowledge about the newer trucks but what are the rules your running under?
