alright so i want to put a 5.0 in my ranger ive read the tech libary and its just alot to take in with outactually doing anything physical. i have a 83 ranger with a 2.8 and a c5 tranny it was 4wd but i switched out the front end with the 2wd setup. my motor went and i need to get this figured out as quick as i can i need to get back on the road. id like to go with fuel injection. i have a 91 bronco with a 5.0 can i just swap every thing over. and what will i have to buy any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

I'm pretty sure that unless you find a dash for a truck with a 2.9 you will have to do wire work behind the dash. Also, fuel system work will be needed. The 2.8's fuel system won't generate or tolerate the fuel pressures needed for an EFI setup.

People always try and make it harder than it is. No need to go under the dash but do what splicing there is under the hood. Get a harwood manual, on line for your year truck. http://www.harwoodperformance.bizland.com/Manual.htm
More complete info down in the V-8 swap section.

edit: Ford used to sell a wiring swap manual in their FRPP catalog for $5. Basis for most is the '93' Mustang wiring harness but other harness can be adapted.

deffinitly looking in to the hardwood manual. and as for fuel i plan on getting a cell and an electic fuel pump my main concerns are with the tranny and driveshaft also the engine harness if i can just get it to run and drive il be all set i can figure out the gauges at a later date

Find a C-4 for a SBF (maybe use the trans you got and just get the correct bellhousing), drivehaft is usually the last thing to worry about. No problem with the gauges.

would it be less of a hassle electicly to use a manual? if i could find a t-5 maybe it would make the swap easier?

Neither of those trans are computer controlled, back-up lights about it for wiring. Swaping in a manual requires changing the pedal assemble and going to the hydraulic clutch. Could just use a AOD if you want to stay auto and have OD.
Dave - really ought to start posting in the V-8 section.
