Everyone calls jeeps tj and yj ,etc. what vechicles do these abbreviations stand for?

A long time ago CJ stood for Civilian Jeep, after that it just became the model name YJ, TJ, XJ.

Kinda like how rangers are called gen1 or gen 2 and stuff i think

MJ (military Jeep) CJ ( civilian Jeep) then the J's just kept coming as part of the brand. Now what about the JK?

seems to be the body type
cj=civilian jeep
the first wrangler was the yj the squared lights one
next the tj and seems like the new ones are jk

kj = kute jeep aka Liberty. haha.

xj = cherokee
yj = first gen wrangler
tj = 2nd gen wrangler
jk = 3rd gen wrangler
zj = grand cherokee (either first or second gen)

those are all the ones i konw off the top of my head. there's more like the commander and 3rd gen grand, etc... haha.

Here ya go, everything you never wanted to know about jeep designations

I thought WJ was a grand cherokee... might be a different generation tho

CJ was the first "wrangler" style, based on the military platform

MJ is the pickup (aka Commanche)

YJ is the square headlight wrangler

SJ, ZJ, WJ, WK are all jeep grand cherokee designation

Hmmm... I always thougt it was kind of like the trim/model packages for different years... like the ranger has xl xlt ect...

nope you can have an XJ pioneer, sport, Laredo, Limited, ETC

ALL Good trail rigs are built not bought.
