Tonight, randomly my steering column started making a noise that was like nails on a chalk board whenever I would move the wheel. Has anyone ever encountered this? It is coming from the steering column not underneath the truck.

I've heard something resembling a high pitched rubbing noise at certain points in the revolution of the wheel...can't seem to put a finger on what causes it. Some days it does it and some days it doesn't.

We cannot hear it. Have a helper turn the steering wheel while you listen. Check with truck running and off.
Possibly the steering column bushing or bearing (whichever is used on your truck). Possibly a loose PS belt. You gotta check.
