Can anyone tell me which sensor is the one that is threaded into the side of the intake manifold? On my 88 2.9, it's threaded into the passenger side of the middle intake runner. Can anyone identify this for me? Tried to find pics but haven't had any luck.

That could be it, I figured it had to be an Intake Air Temp sensor of some kind. Trying to track down this weird idle issue I've been having, and it seems to be temperature related... was wondering if this guy might be the culprit. Is there a way to look that up and find out if it is indeed the sensor I'm thinking of? Mine is so dirty I can't tell what color it is.

if it's that dirty.... clean it.
I've always used MAF cleaner on them.. brake cleaner is a little harsh for sensors.

It was really a stupid place to put it... right where the PCV valve can get oil on it, and engine temp plays a variable in the air temp. Ford wised up and put it in the intake tube in the newer vehicles.
