Coming down a mountain trail I received a check engine light (which has since gone away) for a B1884, "unexpected feature present". Some other codes popped up with it so I'm not sure if this is the one that triggered the light... I'm fixing those at the moment.

Looking this code up online doesn't actually bring up the same message. Does anyone have some insight on the code? Perhaps it's something to do with it being a Canadian vehicle? It's overly worrying to me, I'm just wondering if the previous owner did something to it or if it's some kind of bug

Here's the offending code:

B1884 is a problem with the restraint control module (air bag). From what I could find, it basically means there is a problem with the passenger side airbag indicator light.

That's what the Google search told me, my issue is that it doesn't match what the code reader is calling it. The airbag light appears to be functioning correctly as well which only adds to my confusion

Codes like that are vehicle specific. Most code readers are not capable of giving a definition to anything but generic obd2 system codes. Your scanner is simply telling you it found a code but has no freakin clue what it means...

I suppose that clears it up then! Thanks Dirtman, always helpful ...I suppose I'll have to look more carefully at that airbag light, perhaps it's an intermittent issue

i know this thread is old but mine comes up with "Status: Validated and stored in no volatile memory, Validated fault has been present during this drive cycle; Possible decryptions(note control module): Ford: PAD Warning Lamp Inoperative" I'm guessing PAD stands for Passenger Airbag Devise. 🤷‍♂️
