Hey Guys,
I haven't updated my profile in a while! lol. Last year, I had sold my '02 EDGE and bought an '04 FX4 that I got on a GREAT deal. I had plans for it and everything. Unfortunatley, Michigan winters with the Great lakes are a Bi**h. I have never been in an accident, and on my way to work one morning... I was in 2wd, and I hit a patch of black ice... The vehicle was totalled... Sad story.. If anyone else has their "I miss my old ranger blues," post some pics.

While this was heartbreaking- I did not consider venturing away from Ford... While I didn't purchase another Ranger, I did get an RBV......

I'm interested in seeing what plans unfold for this truck. I do admit its one of the newer fords that i do like as far as extended cabs. I love single cabs, but can i see some inside pics? I've never seen it and i've heard their nice.

I'll post up some inside pics tomorrow... Thanks, man.. I like it too. I like the fact that It has Fx4 axles, suspension, but the more "nicer" interior of Explorers... The longer wheelbase is nice too... Got to be careful sometimes on trails, but I like it, very solid... It's basically a 4 door ranger- almost identical parts wise.

Good to know...i keep having problems with the little ranger i have, but none the less it's been a damn good truck to me and gotten me to the soft spots with the girls lol! Just hope i can get this truck fixed once more. I swear each time something breaks on it i wanna cry alil lol.

I hear ya man.. I saw he pic of your '89 ranger- that's a nice truck you got... That gen of ranger was so damn reliable! The 2.9 was a workhorse! I personally liked the 2.9 better than the 3.0 from a reliability standpoint.

Oh i know i love my lil 89. But slowly shes getting more and more problems. It doesn't help that i got it from a cousin and he chopped some wires up that i have no fking idea where they go. Thinking about going to advanced auto and getting one of those manuals for repairing it when i get the cash. Might tell me where some of those wires go.

Haha, I wanted my FX4 too... I used to work in a body shop, so I wanted to try and make it live again..... Unfortunately, being a college student in my last year of school, time and money were a factor- so I had it totaled out.... Broke my heart! As much as I like the FX4's, if I had to do it again- I would go Sport Trac.

What kinda electrical problems are you experiencing? Any idea where he cut up the wires at? And yes, a schematic would be your best friend in diagnosing the problem :headbang:

id buy it, strip it a pre runner it. :yahoo:

Yeah, they're are some guys on here who have got some awesome prerunner rangers... I wanted to do a 5.0 conversion if I would have bought it as scrap... That's the next thing on my to do list is to find a cheap gen one or two ranger and 5.0 it up! lol. My first ranger was a yellow '02 EDGE (hence my screen name) lol.... If I didn't sell it, I was set on rippin out the 3.0 for the 5.0.... I had a trans, engine, PATS, totalled exploder that I was thinking about buying.

From what i am experiencing is somehow the battery is not receiving the charge from the alternator. Now i know the alternator and battery are working because their brand new and we tested them at O'Rileys autoparts. But there are wires all over the truck cut and crap.

But there is 1 wire running from the regulator on the passenger side behind the battery that is relativity small and it's cut. But it goes downward towards the starter, but i know the starter works. I've made sure all the alternator wires are plugged in. But not much more i can do in the dark, right now it's sitting 2 miles from the house on the side of the road, going to tow it home tomorrow and tinker with it.

But what happened was day before yesterday i went to bristol florida from where i live. It's a 200 mile round trip. Left my house at 3 and go there around 5. So no headlights were needed but i had the cd player on all the time. Now i left my gf's house in bristol around 12am and headed home. Having brights and the cd player going. I noticed the battery meter starting getting lower and lower. So i turned the cd player off and the brights off. But still slowly drained power. I got about 20 miles from my house and the truck died 100%. Had my dad come with his truck and we jumped the truck off, and i managed to make it to the house before it died. Got the new bat and alt today and put them on and it's still losing power.

It sounds like a voltage regulator at first... But you said that you replaced the alt, bat ( and the regulator is tied onto the alt) on that year...Something is most likely stuck in open loop to be loosing power like that. Have you tested the starter at O'reileys or autoparts store? Also, are the headlights stock or aftermarkets like "halos?"

I've tested the starter and it works fine, i don't see how it could be causing the problem. But the lights are stock, can't run halos here. Cops drive you wild with it. Not that its illegal here, but they get pissed at you for having them and then find anything else they can to stop you.

Is' most likely a parasitic draw... Try testing your door buzzer, hood bulbs, dome lights, with a meter... If you get a Haynes or Chilton's manual, it should specify the proper amps that this should be pushing out. Prob around .02-.07ish.... Try this, and if you find a buzzer or door, courtesy lights, etc pulling more than this, that might be your problems... Also, when was the last time you changed the batter cables? The cables prob aren't the prob, but not a bad idea to make sure everything is properly grounded, etc.
