ive been finding that when im in my ranger (1994, 3.0, A4ld, 3.73s) i feel like i really have to be standing on the gas for her to move, almost like it was a 5spd and i was starting off riding the clutch, it revs ok but doesnt wanna get up and go, and while im driving along the road say im going 50kmh, i can hit the gas and let it off quick and she wont speed up just rev up like i was pushing in the clutch and stepping on it. is this a sign of my trans going bad? the previous owner said this is its 3rd transmission
hopefully i can find a 3.0 4wd 5spd trans..

WTF... 3rd transmission? Seriously?

I'm no mechanical expert, but I did have a 3.0, and it didn't like to accelerate... gutless motor.

i know its gutless but it still doesnt seem right, it revs high and barely moves

When the engine revs high but the truck barely moves, that's a sure sign of a slipping trans.

if your transmission was slipping u would know it, the 3.0 is gutless period, im just willing to bet it doesnt have the power u think it should, when in reality it should be in a ****ing taurus lol

well just before the trans went in my B2, i would have to step on the gas till she hit about 2200rpm then she would kick in and take off, and it kept getting worse and worse until it just crapped out altogether. the ranger is nothing like this, when you give it the gas she moves,, slowly, but moves, and revs high like a bitch. ill try to pay attention to my rpms next time

People keep saying guttless but kind of happy with the way both of mine run, both with the 3.73 gears. Not going to be able to outrun anyone but enough to pass when I want to. Have that tranny looked into!

i had a wanted ad up for a 5spd 4x4 3.0 trans for about 5 hours and got a reply just then, hopefully ill be picking that one up soon.

If an auto is stuck in a higher gear it will rev up like that and appear to be slipping as the torque converter shears the fluid.

You may have other issues.

150hp arent gutless, atleast for me. my brother has a 00 3.0 5spd and i dont feel it gutless at all. it will burn the tires even in 2nd gear if u step on the gas.
its not a mustag or a v8, but its not a gutless engine.

get a 5spd ASAP

That has about the same horsepower and torque as my mom's 06' toyota rav 4 cylinder. Yes, thats gutless as shit!

Rav 4 = "157 hp (117 kW) at 5600 rpm with 162 ft·lbf (220 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm."
