Ok so early in december my transmission went out and i spent all of my break removing it. Then we got it out and found that the problem was because the idiots that rebuilt it befor hammered the crap out of it and one of the roll pins fell into the gears and broke some teeth off. well here are some pics of my progress on it. I took it completely apart and cleaned everything to newness, and have the shafts back in minus one bearing. next fifth and reverse then put it back in (Yesssssssssssssssssssssss.....).

Looks nice.
Has this been a big project? I'm trying to decide whether to rebuild mine or find a used tranny for my 2.3.

Not Really, just long and tedious because its just been sitting for most of the time. I put the whats in the picture so far together in about 3 hours.

The only problem was getting the bearings out and lossening the exhaust manifold bolts enough to get the transmission out. If there is nothing wrong with the transmission then don't do it unless you have a bearing press then it would be fine.

If you want a used one I have another that I picked up for my truck but ended up having a different sized output shaft. It will work for a 1985 2wd ranger because thats what it came out probably yours though.
