I'm about to hit the highway with a buddy and a couple coolers in my '94 Ranger when I come to a stoplight. Turns green, I give it gas but the transmission doesn't engage right away for the first time ever. Same thing at the next light and suddenly there's smoke pouring out the back as I'm hittin' 55 mph. Pulled over with the engine on I see cherry red tranny fluid flow out. I cut the engine and it stops, so I crank one more time and watched it drain empty. I had no problem getting up to speed while it was smoking so I believe I blew a seal for the trans pump, but my knowledge is limited in that area. What else could be my problem? Any advice much appreciated.
