so the previous owner had a plastic bed liner (i believe). And the tailgate portion is still on(and a friend said that the original metal is no longer under there. I've herculined the rest of my bed and i want to get rid of that plastic piece. can i just pull it off and find a replacement metal part from another tailgate? it doesnt need to match since ill just bed line it.

if you get another one just get the screws and presto installed and shoot the bedliner on.. their all the same in the newer trucks

If you're talking about the "Access panel" to where the tailgate latch can be seen, There are 6-8 screws* that attach it to the rest of the tail gate.

*Depending on if they were reinstalled with 8, I'm pretty sure mine was "custom" :icon_rofl:

yes there are about 6-8 torx head screws holding the plastic on thought the metaj "usually" and you can just take the plastic off and put the metal part back on
