My Small Block Chevy Swap

I like when people use what they have and think outside the box. It may not always work but how do you know without taking three or four years of university math or trying it out personally. It would be interesting to see a time slip. Also, what size tires/rims are you running?
Keep it up,

Richard

My dad is an engineer and I have always been raised to use what resources I had available. In the case of my tunnel ram, I knew what I needed and just so happened to look over at my old engine hoist, then the lightbulb came on. The square tube was perfect! I know the height is kind of extreme, the idea was to start larger, and if needed, shorten it. But as it is now (9 inches from the top of the ram to the bottom of the carb spacer that the ram sits on) it works great.

I'm considering adding something to make it look less *blah* but I figured I would wait till I got the bugs worked out.

i know i am interested in what it does.

now i have the b-52's rocklobster rolling around in my tiny little mind.

that is much more cruel then the ford chevy thing:thefinger:

I know I've seen it before, just can't remember where. It's called a log style manifold IIRC. I probably remember it from hot-rod mags from 30+ years ago. Perhaps a style for turbo-charging?

I have to admit im not digging the huge spacer.

You dont have to pop the hood to adjust the carb. :D

hahaaa, nice brinker. well, I just bought a gtech, you should see if you can find one on craigslist or ebay and do some testing. they're not 100% accurate im sure, but if you could get a consistant hp # you could test it with and without the huge spacer? it definatly add plenum volume, but will it or how much power would it make would be interesting. snoranger know it probably wont compete with my 3.0L, but it might come close!

You'd be right! Log style, I built them mainly to keep heat away from the starter and to dodge the steering column. I cut apart an old set of headers I had laying around and ran them up into a piece of 2 1/2" exhaust tubing. Then to connect the rest of the exhaust I used a set of band clamps with high temp RTV. No leaks!!!
