Wtf, I cant get this truck to push 60!

Im afraid to drive it on the freeway.

My dad has the same motor in his ranger, it does like 90+

What gives. :icon_confused:

mine wouldnt go above 60 when i first got it with 170k miles on it. turned out the honeycomb in the cat had come loose and was lodged sideways, blocking most of the exhaust flow. replaced cat, and now i can go above 60, though mostly only when headed down hill :P

a 2.3 lt ranger is not gonna win to many drag races(LOL)check youre cat ,compression, injectors, ill bet you will find the problem there

also check the o2 sensor, and the air filter it could be full of mud, and the last person that changed the timing belt could have got it a tooth off which will slow it down quiet a bit

id be afraid to drive it anywhere like that lol. my 86 the last time i had it running which is an extended cab 4wd with a 2.3 will bury the 85mph speedo and actually does it fairly easy for a 2.3 on flat ground even my brothers 85 with the 2.3 will do 70 -75 and it runs on 3 cyl the #3 cyl only has 10 psi on a compression guage and his goes through 3 quarts of oil in a 200 mile trip lol. im thinking you might want to check your timing belt and make sure it is not 180 degrees off also check that your fuel filter is not plugged

Check your timing and then check your cat. conv. or vice-verse, timing is easier I think because exhaust bolts and crap in your eyes stink!

How is your gas mileage doing? Above or below 20mpg? It could be as simple as a restricted fuel supply.

Dude my schwinn could beat your truck... but did you check your compression?

But lets put up my 72 Fastback against your "Schwinn"

It may not be pretty, but shes fast.

Some people have been saying there could be something in the exhaust blocked and to replace it- i just cut my exhaust off and that fixed mine- probably illegal though

you might check the coil wire- that's what
did that to mine.
