Sunday the 24th is my 19th anniversary with my Ranger. 24 April 1992 it came home. I bought it with 8 miles on it (after the test ride). It's birthday is also in April but I don't know the day.:icon_cheers:

6006.84 miles per year.

Fixes over the years:

Clean out the crap from the oil pan and replace the oil pump due to low oil pressure. 56,000 miles.

Brakes: 56,000 miles and 114,000 miles. Second set was free.

Power steering pump: 89,000 miles and 112,000 miles. Second pump was free.

A/C compressor and conversion to 134a: 99,000 miles.

Slave cylinder, clutch: 95,000 miles. It didn't need the clutch but hey, I was in there. I kept the old clutch as it was only worn 1/16" compared to the new one.

Paint: 18 years.

Tires: 48,000, 90,000 and need again 114,000. Cooper Cobra GTs don't last.

Fuel pump: 110,000 miles.

The only work I didn't do was the low oil pressure fix. That was 789 bucks.

I'd say pretty darn reliable for 19 years. And relatively cheap too considering I haven't made a payment in 15 years. I consistantly get 22 mpg around town and 26-28 highway. That with a axle code 84 which is 3.45:1 ratio.

I bought mine new in July of 99. I have done no repairs to it other than regular maintenance and replaced the brakes as they needed it. I only replaced all the ball joints after a friend told me about the Moog ball joints with the zerk fittings were better than stock and they would last so much longer especially after the suspension lift. I lifted it in 2001 and in 2002 I add a 3 inch bl. I am on the second set of 33x12.5 BFG KO tires and I love them. I never had to do anything to any of my Rangers or Bronco II's. Never had a breakdown or been stranded by one either. If you take care of something it will last a very long time!!!

Sweet! I like this post...

Congrats. I like seeing this stuff. Happy anniversary!

that's a good "i love my ford" thing.. send it to ford and see if they will send ya some stuff.. one of my buddies did this with an old dodge truck he had and they sent him a couple shirts, some stickers, and some gift card money type thing to use at any dealer.. idk why, but they did.

the worst that can happen is-- they tell you no. right? so what do you have to lose?

all he did was break his costs and stuff down over the 15 years he had his truck- and showed how well the truck lasted and how little it really cost him to maintain. they loved his story, even posted in some dealer newspaper thing i think

If I broke all of that down, they would think it was hate mail. I've put a lot of money into it, lots of trial and error. However, the bottom end is still original, and the trans was just built for the first time at 183,000 miles. I have no shame in saying I have abused the thing, and it still runs like a scalded dog.

Sorry tbirdsps, didn't mean to jack your thread. :icon_pepsi:

maybe someone should post a link of this thread to the "Ford Quality Rant" Thread????

i thought about it also, but i figured i'd leave well enough alone.. let him hate on the ranger if he wanted to, and let this guy love on his.. :icon_thumby:

Funny after 19 years there's no lean. Good set of twin-I-beams I guess.:icon_thumby:

The auto parts stores know not what they do selling me lifetime parts.:idiot: I almost always opt for the lifetime parts. It pays when you keep a rig for a while.:D

i get all LLT also... for a reason! lol

congrats on the truck man, mustd be nice to have a nice an good runing truck.Ive abused mine abit i regret it but heck its still runing after 26 years an almostd 2 years sitting after my grandfather purchased the truck, but the down fall is im going to put an engine in.keep the nice truck up an runing

Wish I could trace my truck back to it's showroom days. 177,000 miles and it still looks showroom new
