My New House & Workshop

You could buy a trencher pretty cheap on Craigslist or FB Marketplace.

I have a tree root problem where I have to rent a power auger from Home Depot every 2 years or so and clear the drain from the clean out to the septic tank. It’s not a big deal, takes about 2 hours to rent it, clear the drain pipe, and return it. I’ve been doing that for the past 10 years. It’s a lot cheaper and less work than digging up half the yard to replace some pipes.

Not near as much fun though.

I rented a little backhoe to fix a tile line blowout... that thing was a hoot to play with.

Last time I rented one, I taught my wife how to operate it before I took it back. That was almost more fun than using it myself.

The roots are under the building.

The sewer line is 1.5 feet under ground coming out from under the house, and I think 4.5 to 5 feet deep where it meets the sewer. I'd have to dig a ditch 97 feet long sloping down to 5' deep.

They sent me an estimate for me to click on and approve so they can schedule it. I haven't done it yet.

I got the tile project done and spent the rest of the day terrorizing feral trees and brush.

You're hired.

I will also need an airplane.

Here's what the idea is:

I think the gas line might run a similar path as that blue line.

That's going to require a really big diameter tire on your dirtbike trencher.

This kinda gets worse all the time...

Life was a lot easier when I lived in a camper.

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time...

I've heard full strength bleach kills tree roots.

Does it kill the tree??
