My NEW Cafe Racer....fighter....whatever

I don't care to ride bikes, but I can certainly admire a nice looking bike. If you don't mind me saying, that first Yammy at the top of your post is freakin' dope!

Here's my cafe racer. I have a 1200kit with 883 heads, jet kit, air filter, exhaust the usual. :headbang:

Thanks. :icon_cheers:

I liked that one, but it was far too heavy. This 850 I have now feels 100 lbs lighter.

Small update. Got my shifter linkage all squared away, from an '03 R6, also, the beginnings of my hydraulic clutch. :icon_thumby:

Nice cafe!! Fighters are sportbikes with the plastics gone. Cafes are based on standards.

Not even close to a cafe racer. that is just a slightly modded sportster which could never hope to race.

Really like your old XS1100 - love old seventies and eighties muscle bikes - my Z1000 is very similar. Over here (the home of the cafe racer!) to be a "caff" racer it needs clip ons, rear sets and a single seat to really qualify...and to a lot of the die hards it needs to be powered by a Brit' or Italian lump - I'm not arguing that one...
Love the monoshock on the 850, hope the swing arm is stiff enough to cope, anything you can do to improve the handling on one of these is all to the good.
Couple of pics you might like...the first is my old Weed Triple - I cut the back off to build a trike then realised I had to attend a protest in Brussels, Belgium two weeks later so threw it back together with what was to hand...
The other is my BMW R60 which is being built in a traditional Euro cafe racer style...

Best of luck with your project, I look forward to seeing it develop.

That BMW is sick!

Update..

My seat finally got here!

It's mounted, it will need some fine tuning and such. But, all I need to do is finish up the welds and the little things, and then the motor is coming out and the frame is getting sandblasted and powdercoated along with the wheels.

I'm using an R6 tail light, it fits perfect under the seat.

Very fuzzy, low quality cell phone pics, sorry.

black bikes just look so damn good. But I have already built two black bikes, and there are way too many chopped, bobbed, and cafe'd bikes that are black. Its almost a cliche now...

:icon_thumby:

Amazing work. I wish I could afford to build a bike, but between school, a kid, and already owning a truck thats not insured, that shall have to wait.

Almost a cliche??? Thats such a cliche, Harley sells all-black bikes from the factory...

That's awesome... What are you going to do for finishing the tank? I think polished would look so cool.. and its light!

I know how that is....ok, well, the School and truck part. :icon_thumby:

Yamaha did it before Harley.

Yeah, they did back in the 80's with the 'Midnight Specials'

Cool fighter. :icon_thumby:

I don't know if I should take this as a compliment or not....:icon_twisted:

Thanks!

The tank and the seat will be painted white with a red stripe. The wheels are going to be GOLD! :icon_surprised:

take it any way you want:D

i'm hoping the exhaust is going to stay as is,and everything else will be minimallised.the white with red sounds good....not so sure about the gold wheels, though.guess it could be ok,keep that '80s look going.as much as i know it's a bad idea for the motor's lifespan,i'd be real tempted to run a set of mikuni round slides with no filters, just short stacks.

damn,i've got to build a bike again.or at least get the one i have back on the road.
