It's a 2012 Ford Expedition EL (extra long).

I bought my 2010 F-150 at the end of 2009, so right now it was worth a few grand more than I owed on it. The Expedition is a 2012, but was used with 26,000 miles.

I got the Expedition with a 4-year/85,000 mile extended warranty for $7.00 more a month than I was paying for the F-150.

The F-150 was limited on space, and the half doors were a pain.

I got the EL so I could comfortably lay in the back of it and sleep if I want.

Now it just needs a mild 3-inch lift, better all-terrains, communications, a grill guard with a winch receiver, and a few more 'goodies' in case I wnt to take an extended trip in it.

Nice. I'm looking forward to see the modifications. I never see any modified Expeditions, Sport tracs, Explorers or Excursions.

I'd buy one if I had the monkey...but it looks like it would be a gas guzzler...so I'd want a few grand extra just to fill the tank a few times...

I dig it Jim! What motor do those have now? Is it still the 5.4 3V?

Nice.
I want a diesel excursion!

yes, still the 5.4

Nice.
I want a diesel excursion!

A guy I talk to at my local parts store has one. I figured they were major fuel hogs, be he says he actually gets something like 20-21 MPG, but diesel is a lot more than gas so....

My F-150 MPG was rated at (city/combined/highway) 14/15/18, the Expedition is rated at 13/15/18, so there really isn't much difference there.

Tuning the 5.4 will help A LOT. I like Hypertech since they are right here local and I know some of the guys. Cati's 5.4 went from 12 to 15 mpgs with just tuning it. I have a bully dog power pup for hers tho.

Not sure if the 5.4 is the same as the 5.4 triton? Or what changes were made.

It took me an entire day to change the plugs on my moms 02 expedition.......

PITA.

I don't know if they still call it a Triton, but the Triton motors are the truck motors. My F150 has the 4.6, and it wasn't too bad. I did plugs and wires in about 3 hours.

Is this from an out of the box tuner? Getting sick if the 14.5 mpg on my F150. I have to drive like an old man to get over 15.... and it's just not in my nature.

yeah, the Bully dog was even bought used for $75 :headbang:
I had my dad's 2003 5.4 Triton tuned at Hypertech and it helped a lot.

Tuning a 5.4 makes the biggest difference I've ever seen over any other gasser.

So what happens when they drop the EMP and won't run anymore? Ya'll need a mechanical diesel and park on a hill to roll start and you are good to go!

It's all the same engine underneath. And if it took you more than 3.5 hours to do plugs on a 2V, you did it wrong.

I did plugs and wires in about 3 hours.

That sounds a bit more reasonable.

I can do plugs on a 3V in about 2 to 3 hours if none of them break.

I think I could have done it a little quicker if I had used F150 plug wires. I used wires for a 96-97 Mustang because they are half the price. They are a little shorter so it took some figuring out, but they work great.
