No, I replaced the drag link and pitman arm with new manual steering pieces. Removed all traces of the power setup. Needed the room in the 77 Comet's engine bay.
You do on a Ranger. My Comet had a retarded power-ram drag link that provided the extra force. The whole system was leak prone. Like the P/S pump on my Ranger is today. Sum-bitch has always leaked from day one it seems like. I just keep adding fluid.
HAHAHH! well i tell you what, i can bring you my power steering pump, (its perfectly fine, and only 32K on it) you can have it if you can help me find a manual gearbox
oh and can i just tap my water neck like the other guy to run my thermostatic switch? and also i can then run my temp sensor to the gauge cluster gauge i guess. i guess i wont bother with the 2" temp gauge that come in that 3 gauge kit
If your not running AC or Heater then where your heater hoses come off the waterpump, loop it back up to the output/input on the top of the intake. Follow me? Thats how I set mine up to run no heater. The output on top of the intake has a Tee in it that I put my sending unit into and then looped the hose back to the waterpump
I mounted the Ranger's original temp sender in the T-Stat housing, the pilot hole in the housing wasn't large enough to mount anything larger in size. The Ranger's sender was 1/4NPT, the sender for the manual gauge was 3/8 or 1/2NPT. The switch for the electric fans was 3/8NPT, it's mounted in the extra coolant port in my intake. Some intakes have three coolant ports, some only two.
well i am currently struggling to figure out what all crap i need to run a belt on this thing. i guess im going to stay v belt because thats what its balanced for, and i dont feel like changing all that out to run explo/stang brackets, itd be nice, but i wanna drive it to bad right now
Just get a serp belt setup off of a Bronco or F150. I use a modified setup from a Bronc and it works well. Just make sure the pulleys line up squarely when you add your idler. I tore up a few belts before I finally got it right. Here's a pic:
my ranger is currently manual steering, ive got a pump and bracket with plans of making mine power... manual box will be comming off... may be available...
well im going with the 94-95 mustang gt stuff. i have an alt bracket in the mail. now all i need is to buy an earlier timing cover and water pump to match. i also have to find a ps bracket. i now know everything i need except for the harmonic balancer
baddad - you said an aftermarket 94-95 balancer? i know its has to be 28oz and 4 bolt. because it lines up with the pullies for the 94-5 brackets.
im going to the parts store and buying a 95 timing cover and waterpump. the pulleys i can get from ebay no prob. ill get a ps pump, would my ranger ps pump fit the gt bracket?
i finally figured it all out, i know i aggrivated EVERYONE with my problems on this thing. (on rps especially, and baddad you still helped no matter what, thank you)
